Alabama LB plans on calling Clemson

An official visit hasn't been scheduled for Clemson yet, but that could be in the works later this week.

On Monday night, CUTigers caught up with Mobile (AL) W.P. Davidson HS 2010 linebacker/safety Chris Hughes, who is considering five schools right now. In no particular order, he lists Clemson, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Louisville and Arkansas as his top five schools.

"I've got five visits and I'm going to take at least three," he said.

Hughes is scheduled for Mississippi State on Jan. 15 and Louisville on Jan. 22. With it getting down to the wire before signing day rolls around, he could substitute the Louisville visit with another.

"If I had to leave anyone out, it would be Louisville," he said.

A trip to Tigertown in the coming weeks is one he would like to have set up very soon.

"I'm going to try to do all that at school (on Tuesday). I'm going to talk to my coaches and try to get me a visit," Hughes said.

Then again, he'd like to visit all five of the schools he's considering.

"I might try to take all five of them," Hughes said. "It's going to be tight. I would have to go to a school almost every weekend because it's getting close to signing day."

He appreciates the thought process and evaluation of schools that's needed to figure out where he'll be next fall.

"The school you go to, you've got to invest four years of your life into the place," Hughes said. "It's moving into another community. You've got to be ready for your time there."

Though he hasn't talked to Clemson defensive coordinator Kevin Steele in a couple of weeks, Hughes thought giving Steele a call would be a good idea, since they haven't talked in a while.

"I think that's something I'm going to try to do (Monday night)," Hughes said. rates him as a three-star prospect and the No. 71 outside linebacker in the nation. Top Stories
