2012 athlete plans Junior Day visit

Carver High School (Columbus, Ga.) will send two of its finer 2010 prospects to Clemson this fall. Now, the focus shifts to the strong 2011 group and a 2012 prospect who's high on the Tigers.

ATH Deion Bonner Profile

CUTigers caught up with 2012 cornerback Deion Bonner at last month's Scout Showcase in Duluth, Ga.

"I've gotten verbal offers from Georgia, Clemson and Southern Miss," he said.

As a sophomore at Carver (Columbus, Ga.), Bonner had 10 interceptions, seven pass break ups and five forced fumbles.

He's enjoying all the early attention from schools that also include Auburn, Florida and Florida State.

"It's big. I feel like it's a good thing," Bonner said.

With so many highly sought after recruits that have come through Carver, he's able to pick up advice from the older players who know what to expect on the recruiting trail. 2011 running back Isaiah Crowell has been a voice he's listened to lately.

"Crowell, he gives me advice almost everyday about how to pick these colleges," Bonner said.

While looking at schools, he's looking at several factors.

"How their atmosphere is. Coaches, academics they've got," Bonner said.

This spring, he's made plans to hit several schools with the 2011 Carver prospects.

"We've got junior days at Clemson, Georgia, Maryland--we've got a lot of trips coming up. I can't think of all of them," Bonner said.

His early top three, in order is: Georgia, Clemson and Tennessee.
