Wide-open race for Georgia DE

It's open season for this Scout.com three-star defensive end from Gainesville, Ga. For now, he's not talking to any of the several suitors seeking his services.

DE Sterling Bailey Profile

CUTigers recently spoke to East Hall High School 2011 defensive end Sterling Bailey.

"I'm just taking one of those breaks that I need," he said.

"I haven't been talking or calling any schools right now because I've been concentrating on my school work."

Bailey's recruiting break doesn't have much longer.

"I'll probably just take a couple of weeks off and then I'll start calling coaches," he said.

Already this spring, Bailey's visited Clemson, Georgia, South Carolina and Georgia Tech on the Junior Day circuit—all have offered.

Along with those four, his other offers include: Florida, Florida State, Auburn, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, North Carolina, North Carolina State, USC, Virginia, Oregon, Illinois and Texas Tech. No school holds favor over the other at the moment.

"I may go to a couple of spring games and stuff, I'm not sure," Bailey said.

As for his decision, that won't be coming until the end of this year.

"I'm going to take my time," he said. "I'm going to decide after my season."

During his junior season, Bailey had 65 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, six sacks, 16 quarterback hurries and a blocked field goal.

When the recruitment picks back up, he'll be looking at several factors with each school.

"I'm looking for a good connection with the coaches and the players, a good atmosphere. I'm looking for academics and that spiritual connection," Bailey said.
