After spending the afternoon with Clemson starting center Dalton Freeman, the top 2011 in-state center watched his favorite school practice and scrimmage.

Mauldin center Ryan Norton was in Tigertown for the day with his soon-to-be stepdad. After the trip, he told CUTigers the three schools that round out his top three.

"Clemson, South Carolina and then Georgia Tech," he said. "That's in order."

Norton also spent a good part of his afternoon with Dalton Freeman.

"We came a little earlier (before practice) and I hung out with the coaches and we went out to lunch (with Freeman)…after lunch, I hung out with him a little bit more," Norton said. "Then, I went and talked to coach (Brad) Scott. We just talked about if I went there, what I would be doing as center."

Norton said Freeman encouraged him to pick the school where he feels most comfortable, but was still sure to tell him the good things about Clemson.

The Tigers' staff is sure the two are paired up during trips since Norton reminds them of Freeman.

"That's a huge compliment, being reminded of a Division I starter," Norton said.

As for the couple of hours at the practice fields, CUTigers asked what was the biggest thing that stood out about the practice and situational scrimmage?

"I just really liked the intensity and the way that they coached," Norton said.

South Carolina hosted him a week ago for a practice and will probably do so again soon. On Saturday, Norton will visit Georgia Tech.

Along with the offers from his three favorites, he's been offered by Illinois, Vanderbilt and East Carolina.

Norton will make his decision sometime before the start of his senior season. Top Stories
