One of the top rising juniors in the state of Georgia will be in Tigertown next week for an unofficial visit with several of his teammates.

Carver High School (Columbus, Ga.) 2012 cornerback Deion Bonner told CUTigers recently that he's going to be in Clemson sometime next week.

He's yet to take any other visits this spring. After the trip to Clemson, he'll head to Athens for the Georgia spring game.

"We're going during the week to Clemson. I really don't know the day yet," Bonner said.

So far, he's been given verbal offers by Clemson, Georgia, Florida State, South Carolina and Mississippi. He's being recruited to play cornerback, but at 5-11, 180 pounds, the sophomore could grow into a safety.

Bonner has great ball skills.
"To me, I'd rather play corner. But if I grow into a safety in college, I'd play it," Bonner said.

For camps this summer, he'll head back to Clemson, Georgia and also Florida State.

"My top three is Clemson, Georgia and Florida State. In order, it is Georgia, Clemson and Florida State," Bonner said.

He told CUTigers what he likes about each of the three schools in his top three.

Clemson: I like their coaches. Coach Cheese (Charlie Harbison), the DBs coach, he's real cool. I get along with them real good.

Georgia: I like the style of their defense. The way they play--that's the way I like to play.

Florida State: It's like the same with Clemson. I get along with the coaching staff.

Bonner will be joined by several Carver teammates on the trip this week.

"The freshman quarterback we're fixing to have: Hawkins. Quincy McKinney, Gabe Wright, Isaiah (Crowell) is supposed to be coming and (Quintavious) Harrow. There's going to be seven of us," he said.

Bonner finished his 2009 season with over 50 tackles, 10 interceptions, nine pass break-ups, and four forced fumbles. Top Stories
