Dabo offers Georgia DB Saturday

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney invited one of top defensive backs in the class of 2012 up to his office for some good news before Saturday's spring game.

That's where Swinney offered Carver High School (Columbus, Ga.) cornerback Deion Bonner a spot in the 2012 class.

Prior to Saturday's meeting, he was informed an offer would be on the way at some point.

Bonner told CUTigers on Sunday that he was excited to pick up the offer.

"It wasn't a face-to-face offer (before)…coach Swinney just informed me what all came with the scholarship," he said. "He was telling me he wanted to offer me early so I could keep them in mind."

Prior to the trip, Bonner told CUTigers that he favors Georgia, Clemson and Florida State, in order. After an entire weekend in Tigertown, he said the list remains the same.

Jody Hill, a mentor some of the players at Carver, drove Bonner, Gabe Wright and Isaiah Crowell to Clemson on Friday and took the group home Sunday morning.

"We got there a little late because of an accident, but we got up with the players and chilled with them," Bonner said. "When we first got there, we met up with coach Cheese (Charlie Harbison) in the West End Zone."

The trio spent time with current Clemson players like Jonathan Meeks, Jarvis Jenkins and Bryce McNeal.

On Saturday, the Carver trio met with coaches, had lunch and toured the campus before watching the spring game.

"The spring game was alright. It wasn't like being there for a real game," Bonner said.

"After the game we went into the locker room and talked to players and all that."

The Carver trio has been invited to Alabama next weekend by Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban. The following weekend, Bonner will head to Atlanta to visit Georgia Tech.

As a sophomore, he had 50 tackles, 10 interceptions, nine pass break-ups, and four forced fumbles.
