Tigers set to offer QB

Offensive coordinator Billy Napier was in the nation's capital earlier this week to check out a 2011 quarterback prospect and he liked what he saw.

QB Kevin Hogan Profile

Before Napier and a coach from Duke, Gonzaga High School (Washington, D.C.) junior Kevin Hogan went through an on-field work out. Napier saw enough to inform the Gonzaga coaches that an offer to Hogan would be in the mail.

"(Napier) said he enjoyed watching me throw," Hogan said.

So far, he's received written offers from Maryland, Boston College, Virginia and Rutgers. His verbals are from Clemson, Vanderbilt, New Mexico and Ohio.

For junior days this spring, Hogan visited Maryland, Virginia, Boston College and Notre Dame. Other spring visits include trips to Duke, Florida and Rutgers.

Still wide-open with the schools that he's considering, might Hogan consider making a visit to Clemson?

"Definitely, if the school is showing interest in me, I should check them out," he said.

Prior to Napier's appearance at Gonzaga, Hogan's contact with Clemson had begun just weeks before Tuesday's workout.

"The first time I talked to their coaches was a couple of weeks ago and it was coach Napier," Hogan said. "He said he was going to come up in a couple of weeks, so I've been (recruited) by them for a couple of weeks."

Several factors will be considered as he looks narrowing down his lists of offers.

"One of the top things is academics. I want a school with a good football tradition and I want to be able to play there. I want to see how the situation is," Hogan said. "The coaches—I want a good relationship with good coaches, a place where I feel comfortable."

Along with Clemson and Duke, Sanford, Maryland, Temple and Georgetown have also visited during the spring evaluation period.

Hogan plans to have a decision made by the end of the summer.

"Probably in the next two months or so," he said.

As a junior, Hogan threw for 1,875 yards and 16 touchdowns while rushing for close to 400 yards and two touchdowns.
