QB Brian Taylor Profile
"Coach Napier called my house and he told me. We talked for a little while," said Brian Taylor, who has also been offered by North Carolina.
The Harnett Central High School rising senior (Angier, N.C.) thinks highly of his latest offer.
"Their offer is a pretty big deal," he said. "I'd say they're my top school right now. I like Clemson a lot and I was excited to hear about it."
Prior to the offer, Taylor did have some interest in the Tigers.
"Obviously, once I got it, that kind of increased it," he said.
A few other schools that haven't offered are still on his radar.
N.C. State, Wake Forest, East Carolina and Virginia are listed as the other schools of interest behind Clemson.
One of those five is a long-time favorite, though.
"I grew up a State fan my entire life," he said.
Taylor has already made several plans for the summer.
"I'm going to Clemson on June 10. I'm going to State and Wake Forest on the weekend on the 12th and 13th—I'm not sure which one is which," he said. "That's all I've got planned, for now."
This spring, he attended junior days at N.C. State and Wake Forest. He also checked out one of Duke's spring practices.
Taylor isn't sure of how long he's going to go through the recruiting process.
"Hopefully it won't take too long for me to make my mind up," he said.
As a junior, Taylor threw for 2,000 yards and rushed for another 1,000. In only six games during his sophomore season, he accounted for 1,500 yards of total offense and 20 touchdowns (13 passing, seven rushing).
Scout.com rates Taylor with two stars.
