WR Charone Peake Profile
On campus last week for camp, Scout.com four-star rated wide receiver Charone Peake has committed to Clemson.
Peake decided to make an early morning drive down I-85 so he could make a face-to-face commitment to the Clemson coaching staff.
"I came down this morning about 7," he told CUTigers. "All the coaches, they were going crazy."
The nation's No. 7 ranked wide receiver chose to join the 2011 class for one maor reason.
"It just feels like home every time I'm here. I'm really comfortable down here," Peake said.
The people who he'll be spending the next few years around have made a big difference.
"I love all the coaches and I love all the recruits that they're recruiting--guys that have already committed and guys that they are recruiting and could get," he said.
Peake said he's built good relationships with players already on the roster.
With other offers that also include: Georgia, Florida, Southern California, LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, South Carolina, North Carolina, Peake decided that Clemson was his absolute favorite.
Georgia and Florida had been in the running too, along with North Carolina and Southern Cal.
He joins fellow Dorman wide receiver Adam Humphries as a member of the Tigers' 2011 class.
During his junior season, he had close to 900 yards receiving and nine touchdowns. He will enroll at Clemson in January.
Peake, is the 14th verbal commitment for the Tigers in the 2011 class and the third prospect rated four stars or higher.
"I thought I might as well go ahead and make the decision that I thought that was right," he said. "Maybe now some of those other guys will come and join me so we can have a good recruiting class."
