CB Malcolm Mitchell Profile
CUTigers recently caught up with Valdosta High School cornerback Malcolm Mitchell, who last visited Clemson for the Wake Forest game last fall with five-star teammate Jay Rome.
"I thought it was a good school. We didn't get to see the whole school or anything, but as far as football, it was good," Mitchell said.
Another visit could be in the works, but he wasn't sure exactly when that would be.
"I think we are coming up there, me and Jay," Mitchell said. "As soon as he comes, I'll be coming with him."
He and Rome haven't planned to go to the same school, just for the sake of going together.
"We don't sit down and talk about schools. We just happen to like the same places," Mitchell said.
With offers from all across the SEC, Clemson entered the mix earlier this year when the Tigers extended an offer.
"They offered me after the spring game. The tight ends coach, coach (Danny) Pearman was there at our game," he said.
"There's interest there. When I first started getting recruited, I was a lot more interested, but I still have some interest with them, though."
So far this summer, Mitchell has visited Florida and Alabama. In previous reports, he listed Georgia along with those two as his favorite. For now, he said, there's no order to the trio.
Mitchell plans on waiting until his senior season at Valdosta is finished before making a decision. He plans on taking all five of his official visits.
"I haven't even thought about the officials I want to take," Mitchell said.
