In the mix

Clemson is still in the mix for one of the top-rated defensive ends out of Georgia in the class of 2011.

Stephon Tuitt Profile

Monroe High School senior defensive end Stephon Tuitt recently caught up with CUTigers for the latest in his recruitment.

"I haven't set up any visits with any colleges yet. I haven't talked with anyone to set them up," he said. "I'm going to look at the schools' pros and cons."

Notre Dame, Miami and Auburn are a few destinations that Tuitt wouldn't mind hitting up for visits this fall.

He's already seen Clemson several times in 2010 and has yet to set any plans for a return trip to Tigertown, though Tuitt did say that the Tigers remain in good standing. That's been the case since Clemson first offered last Sept. 1.

"Clemson is still up there. I haven't made a final decision on any of my official visits yet, so I don't know," he said. "Clemson is still high with me."

Tuitt's sure of at least two of the schools that he could be taking official visits to later this year.

"I know Notre Dame and Miami might be official visits, but I'm not sure if I'm going to make Auburn an official yet," he said.

One school sticks out above the rest for Tuitt, and it's been that way for quite some time.

"I would say [Georgia] Tech is leading, but not by a lot," he said.

Tuitt is still taking his time before making a decision.

"I want to do it after I do my official visits," he said. rates Tuitt with four stars and ranks him as the No. 14 defensive end in the class of 2011. He was recently rated as the No. 6 player in the state of Georgia.

As a junior, Tuitt had 10 sacks and over 40 tackles. Top Stories
