Crespi has sleeper RB prospect

There was a ton of BCS level talent on the field last Friday when Encino (Calif.) Crespi shocked Mission Hills (Calif.) Alemany in a key Serra league matchup. The best player on the field however was little known running back Timothy Hayes who made plays on both sides of the ball.

At about 5-8, 190 pounds, Timothy Hayes is on the short side, but he's definitely not small. He's a thick, powerful back with breakaway speed. He scored three touchdowns against Alemany including a 75 yarder where he outran the entire secondary and had a key interception late in the game as well.

"The win means everything," Hayes said following the game. "It shows what kind of heart we have. We could have easily just laid down and not played hard because we have two league losses and might not make the playoffs. The coaches got us going and we worked hard all week and got the win."

On the recruiting front, Hayes is flying well below the radar but has the talent to definitely play for someone.

"Right now Northern Arizona is the main one I'm talking with," Hayes said. "I'm talking a little with Utah and Colorado State too but not that much. In the summer, I heard NAU was close to maybe offering but nothing came out of it so we'll see what happens. I would love to get the chance to play in college so hopefully someone gives me that chance."
