First two in for Gipson

And the domino effect begins for the Dallas (TX) Kimball running back.

It was within minutes of receiving his first offer from Colorado State Tuesday night that New Mexico, too, jumped for Teriyon Gipson.

"I'm feeling great!" he exclaimed over phone. "The coach from Colorado State [co-defensive coordinator and Dallas-Fort Worth area recruiter Marty English] called me and told me they have a full ride scholarship for me. I couldn't believe it. It feels great to get the first."

Gipson said it was three weeks ago that English first reached out to him.

"We talked every week. He said he liked my speed and that he wanted a big play guy with speed in their new offense. He said, 'Let's go- let's do it.'"

Gipson, with teammate [linebacker/safety] Brandon Hines, will be making an official visit to Colorado State Nov. 30- the week after the Rams' final regular season game with New Mexico.

He will then be tripping to New Mexico Dec. 8.

And while the Lobos quickly slapped down an offer following CSU, Gipson believes SMU and/or ULM could be next.

Younger brother of former Kimball standout and Cleveland Browns defensive back Tashaun Gipson, the explosive 5-foot-9, 170-pounder has has taken 153 handoffs for 1,454 yards and 17 touchdowns through nine games this season, with 108 yards and a score on 7 catches.

He and the 7-2 Knights, coming off five consecutive wins, take on Dallas South Oak Cliff in their final regular season game Friday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT at Dallas Kincaide Stadium.
