Thus far, Lubick said he's pleased with the results. The team conducted its first two workouts in shorts, helmets, and jerseys, then had full pads on for the following two sessions.
This week, Lubick has workouts scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon beginning at 3:30 p.m., and a Saturday practice (time to be announced).
Lubick was pleased with the return of runningback Cecil Sapp, who missed all of last season after having a benign tumor removed from his heel. He led the Mountain West Conference in rushing in 2000 and earned MVP honors that year in leading the Rams to a win over Louisville in the Liberty Bowl after winning the conference title.
Sapp has participated in every drill, but has been held out of live contact thus far. Lubick has also been pleased with the play of Rahsaan Sanders and David Vickers in the secondary. Sanders was a runningback who missed last year with a severe hamstring pull, and Vickers is a two-year starter at linebacker. Both have moved to safety this spring, changes Lubick said will help the Rams.
