Beginning Wednesday, the Rams will have one full practice daily in preparation for the team's season opener, Aug. 22 at the University of Virginia in the Jim Thorpe Assn. Classic. (Radio: Colorado State Sports Network including flagship station KIIX Radio in Fort Collins; T.V.: Fox Sports Net).
He also amended the team's workout schedule leading up to the opening game. The Rams will practice Wednesday and Thursday at 3:45 p.m., then stage a "mock" game at Hughes Stadium Friday night at 7:30 p.m. The team will then not practice Saturday before returning to the field Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday at 3:45 p.m., before departing Wednesday morning for Charlottesville, Va.
Lubick said though his team's performance on the field has been steady, squad unity has impressed him even more.
"I feel real good about the chemistry, the attitude. Our leadership has been great by the seniors. They have been out here every day, working hard," he said.
Lubick and his staff received a scare late in Tuesday's morning workout when wide receiver Chris Pittman, who has been impressive thus far in preseason workouts, came down awkwardly while trying to catch a pass and injured his right knee. The injury is not considered to be serious.
Meanwhile, backup quarterback Justin Holland hyperextended his right elbow and is listed as day-to-day.
