Higgins first team All-Big 12

Big 12 basketball coaches named Colorado senior Cory Higgins to the first team of the preseason all-conference team today. Coaches are not allowed to vote for student-athletes on their own teams.

Cory Higgins is the second Colorado players to earn first-team honors on the Big 12 preseason team. Former Buff Richard Roby was the first.

Sophomore Alec Burks was named honorable mention in voting by the coaches, the conference announced.

Higgins was named to the third-team of the All-Conference team during his sophomore and junior seasons. He will begin his senior season next month with a chance to pass Roby and become the program's all-time leading scorer.

Higgins has scored 1,391 points in his career and is ninth on the CU career scoring list. Higgins is not just an offensive-minded player. He has led the Big 12 in steals in each of the past two seasons, a solid accomplishment considering the talented guards and forwards throughout the league in that time.
