Another assistant on board

Colorado head coach Jon Embree had a busy day today meeting with assistant coaches who served under former coach Dan Hawkins during the 2010 season and also beginning to meet with returning players. He has hired at least one new staff member with more to come.

Sources tell BuffaloSportsNews.net Embree has hired Mike Tuiasosopo away from Arizona to coach defensive tackles in Boulder.

Tuiasosopo is a respected defensive line coach with deep recruiting ties on the West Coast and in the Pacific Islands. when combined with longtime Colorado linebackers coach Brian Cabral, he should give the Buffs and strong one-two punch in recruiting Polynesian players in the future.

Tuiasosopo has coached at Arizona for seven seasons and has 21 years of college coaching experience.

Tuiasosopo might be followed to CU by Wildcats co-defensive coordinator Greg Brown, who served as secondary coach for the Buffs from 2006-2009 before being hired by Arizona coach Mike Stoops last December. Sources said Brown was in talks to become defensive coordinator under Embree.

Additionally, Embree met with members of the 2010 CU coaching staff today and informed at least five of those coaches they will not be retained. Ron Collins, Kent Riddle, Romeo Bandison, Robert Prince and Denver Johnson will not be retained.
