Colorado sophomore Alec Burks is one of 30 players from around the nation to be named to the John R. Wooden Award Midseason list.
Alec Burks and teammate Cory Higgins were both named to the preseason list for the Wooden Award, the most prestigious honor for a college basketball player.
Higgins, a senior, did not advance to the midseason list along with Burks, but Higgins could still be considered for the honor or for inclusion on the Wooden Award All-America team, which will be announced in late March. The Wooden Award will be presented in mid-April.
Burks is the Buffs' leading scorer at 19.1 points per game and has led the team in scoring in nine of 15 games so far this season.
No Colorado player has ever won the Wooden Award. Burks and the Buffs are 11-4 heading into the start of Big 12 Conference play at home Saturday against No. 9 Missouri.
