Buffs earn rare road win

Nate Tomlinson was back in the starting lineup for Colorado tonight and the Buffs started strong at Texas Tech leading by a dozen at halftime. The Buffs gave up the lead in the second half but managed to win 71-68 on the road for only the third time this season.

Tad Boyle needed his team playing its best basketball tonight and the Buffs responded for much of the evening. Alec Burks, Austin Dufault and Marcus Relphorde led a strong rebounding effort. Levi Knutson led the Buffs in scoring and Andre Roberson turned in another nice performance off the bench.

Four Buffs scored in double figures led by Knutson with 18. Fellow senior Cory Higgins had 12. Burks and Relphorde scored 14 and 15 respectively.

Colorado didn't shoot the ball particularly well, but it managed to out-rebound the Red Raiders 40-34 and limited turnovers to 11.

One of Texas Tech's starters scored in double figures, John Roberson with 18 and Mike Singletary added 17 in a reserve role.

The Buffs won for the 17th time, earning Boyle another $10,000 bonus under the incentive portion of his contract. CU is now 17-11 overall and 6-7 in the Big 12 with three games remaining before the conference tournament. CU hosts Texas on Saturday.

Texas Tech is now 12-17 overall and 4-10 in the conference.
