Knutson earns Big 12 Sixth Man award

There were moments earlier in Levi Knutson's CU career when you wondered if the sharpshooter would ever remain healthy enough long enough to make the kind of contribution everyone knew he was capable of when he came to Boulder from Arapahoe High School.

Levi Knutson finally received his opportunity this season. You could say his body finally cooperated and he made the most of it each time coach Tad Boyle called his number.

Coaches around the conference rewarded him Sunday by naming him co-Sixth Man of the Year in the Big 12 along with Baylor's Quincy Acy.

Knutson is the first Buff to win the award and just the third player in CU history to win a major award in the Big 12.

Knutson came off the bench most of the year but also has earned a few starting nods, including the regular season finale Saturday against Nebraska.

His tenacity and accuracy from behind the 3-point arc have been irreplaceable for the Buffs.<.p>

Knutson led the Big 12 in 3-point shooting in the regular season, making 48.9 percent of his attemtps for Colorado.

Knuston joined sophomore Alec Burks, a unanimous first-team selection, and fellow senior Cory Higgins on the Big 12 All-Conference team.
