CU stops by Oaks Christian

Oaks Christian High School in Westlake Village, Calif., was the latest stop for several Colorado coaches today during the spring evaluation period. CU coaches have offered several Oaks Christian players in the 2012 class and have their eyes on others. Get inside for more.

Ishmael Adams is one of the top targets of the Colorado staff in the 2012 cycle.

Adams is a four-star rated cornerback at Oaks Christian and is well into double digits in terms of scholarship offers with more certainly on the way. He says he remains wide open at this early stage of recruiting.

He earned defensive back MVP honors at the Los Angeles NFTC and All-Vegas 21 honors at the Badger Elite 7on7 earlier this spring. CU would have to beat most of the rest of the Pac-12 Conference to land Adams, including USC and UCLA where Adams has made multiple visits.

Oaks Christian wide receivers Jordan Payton (USC commit) and Zach Hernandez visited the Colorado campus several months ago during a skiing trip to Vail. CU has offered Payton, but is evaluating Hernandez further.

Linebacker Carlos Mendoza is another Lion that CU coaches are continuing to evaluate. Mendoza is waiting for his first offer but is talking with coaches at multiple Pac-12 schools along with others such as Duke and Iowa State.

CU coaches aren't just talking with Oaks Christian coaches about 2012 prospects. They are also getting a head start on 2013 and 2014 prospects they might have interest in bringing to Boulder.
