Who stands out from that impressive list?
"I'm looking at Colorado hard along with LSU, USC, Miami, Nebraska and Indiana," he said.
A pair of schools has edged ahead of the others in his recruitment with one winning a very close race at this time.
"LSU, because it is the closest to home," he said. "That is who I hear from the most except for Colorado. Those would be my two leaders, but if I had to pick one it would be LSU."
Favorite reminds many prep football fans in Louisiana of former LSU defensive tackle Anthony "Booger" McFarland, who was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' first round draft choice and the 15th overall pick in the 1999 NFL Draft. McFarland dominated on the prep level at Winnfield High School and Favorite has done the same thing at West Jefferson. His dominance is not only seen by those in Louisiana, but also at ESPN who recently named Favorite a preseason All-American. Favorite numbers are staggering on the field and in the weight room. As a junior, he recorded 103 tackles and 22 sacks. During the spring, the senior-to-be bench pressed 420 pounds, squat 580 and power cleaned 310.
"I'm a good team leader," said Favorite. "I'm good with the swim move and I play blocking techniques OK. Sometimes I get them with basic footwork because I'm pretty quick off the ball."
Add Favorite's grades to the picture and then it is easy to see why he has so many offers. He carries a 3.0 grade point average into his senior year and knows exactly what he is looking for at the next level.
"I'm looking for a good football environment," he said. "Academic-wise, I want a school with good fields of study. It doesn't have to be a private school but just a good academic school. I also want a place I can go to and enjoy myself."
Favorite plans on making unofficial visits to Colorado, USC and LSU for summer camps, so it looks like it will be a very busy next couple of months for one of Louisiana's top defensive tackles.
