Bear Creek OL looking at options

Jake Bennett is one of the state's top linemen for the class of 2013 and he's getting interest from schools around the country.

Jake Bennett of Bear Creek High School is barely getting started with the recruiting process, but he's already drawing some heavy interest from colleges.

The 6-foot-3, 270-pound senior-to-be, has heard from Colorado, Colorado State, Arizona State, Michigan, Nebraska, Pittsburgh and Wyoming. He has not received a scholarship offer yet.

"I'm just looking for the best opportunity for me, a college town that feels right," he said. "I need a good offensive line coach that I can talk to and get along with, and then just a good town that I feel right in."

Could that be Boulder? Possibly. A native of Colorado, Bennett said he is interested in pursuing a career as a CU Buffalo.

"I'd be interested in seeing what they think about me," he said. "About a month and a half ago, (CU offensive line coach Steve) Marshall was down here and got all my information. He seemed like a pretty good dude."

Although Bennett doesn't know where he'll play in 2013, he has a pretty good idea of where he'd line up.

"I feel like at the next level I'll play center or guard," he said. "I've played center pretty much my whole life and I probably feel most comfortable there."

Bennett currently plays tackle at Bear Creek, but that's mostly out of necessity.
