In fact Coach Mike MacIntyre and his coaching staff relied on some of their commitments for the Spartans when they made the move to the University of Colorado.
One such prospect was Helix High School running back Michael Adkins from La Mesa.
Apparently it was an easy decision for Adkins to make the move from San Jose State to the Pac 12.
"I had built a really good relationship with the entire coaching staff," Adkins told BuffPlayBook.com. "I really liked how close the coaching staff was, they are a very tight knit group."
Adkins had several options other than San Jose State and Colorado.
Several things stood out about Coach MacIntyre and his coaching staff.
"He such a genuine guy," Adkins said. "He is very focused, a great family man. He has a lot of football knowledge and he spends a lot of time developing his players to make his teams better. What they did at San Jose State was amazing."
Adkins, a 5-foot-10, 195-pound athlete who runs the forty yard dash in 4.45 seconds, will enroll at Colorado in late June.
Adkins is working hard to be prepared for fall camp.
"They are telling me basically that I have the opportunity to come in and work hard to earn some playing time," Adkins said. "I want to show them what I have and hopefully work my way into the playing rotation. I want to come in and compete right away."
Adkins has been working hard this spring as well as running track for his high school team.
