Collier commits to Colorado

Colorado is on the board in the class of 2014. They picked up a top 100 prospect on Tuesday.

Dominique Collier, a standout at Denver (Colo.) East, verbally pledged to Colorado on Tuesday.

KC Run GMC coach L.J. Goolsby confirmed the news to Scout.com.

"I think he had it on his mind," Goolsby told Scout.com. "He's known that's really where he wanted to be. He really likes CU and the direction they are headed."

What stood out the most about Colorado?

"I think the opportunity to play there and just how successful Colorado has been," Goolsby said. "I think he feels they are a program that has a chance to win the PAC-12 while he's there."

Goolsby said the opportunity to play close to home was a big part of his college decision.

"I think it's huge," he said of Colorado's proximity to home. "It's a great opportunity to play in front of his family and friends. He likes the fact that he can play close to his mom and dad.

Kansas State and Creighton were also heavily involved in Collier's recruitment.

Collier is Colorado's first pledge in the 2014 class. He's ranked No. 67 overall and as the No. 15 point guard in the class.
