A California three star linebacker had his dream come true today.
Scout.com's three star middle linebacker Rick Gamboa pulled the trigger and became the fifth pledge for first year Buff Head Coach Mike MacIntyre's 2014 recruiting class.
According to the standout defender, the decision is something that he has been thinking about for sometime now.
"It's always been a dream of mine to play in the Pac 12," Gamboa told BuffPlayBook.com. "I fell in love with Colorado on my visit there this spring, I decided today it was time to make my decision."
It appears that his decision was something that excited the Colorado coaching staff.
"Coach MacIntyre told me that I made him a very happy man," Gamboa said. "He said he couldn't wait to get me back on campus and that he was very excited to have me a part of his family."
MacIntyre's vision and goals for the program played a major role in the middle linebacker's decision.
"I loved the way he turned the San Jose State Football Program around," Gamboa said. "He is very passionate about returning Colorado to its winning ways. I want to be a part of that."
According to Gamboa, he is currently weighing in at 218 pounds and is 6-foot-1 inches tall.
"It just feels right at Colorado for me," Gamboa said. "I feel like it's where I belong."
On his visit to Boulder in the spring, he was amazed by the campus and surrounding area.
"I really like the campus a lot," Gamboa said. "I loved the area, the mountains and how beautiful it is there."
Gamboa makes three out of five of MacIntyre's commitments that are rated three stars or better by Fox Sports/Scout.com.
