One Texas athlete was all set to camp with the Colorado coaching staff last month in Pearland at the Houston Baptist University event. Although things didn't work out so he could make it, it hasn't kept Dominique Barnett from ranking the Buffs high on his list.

Barnett, a 6-foot-2, 175-pound defensive back from Alief Elsik HS, currently holds 7 offers. Including one from Colorado, LA Tech, UTEP, Tulsa, North Texas, Lamar and UTSA.

BuffPlayBook.com caught up with Barnett recently to get his take on the Colorado football program.

"I was really looking forward to going to camp and to get to know their coaching staff better," Barnett said. "Things didn't work out so I could make it, but it hasn't slowed their staff down from recruiting me."

According to Barnett, Colorado is currently in his top three favorites.

"I would have to say Colorado, LA Tech, and UTEP are my top three schools right now," Barnett said. "I'm hoping to make a decision before the season gets underway."

While Barnett hasn't been on the Colorado campus. that hasn't kept the talented defensive back from doing his research on the school.

"They are in the PAC 12," Barnett said. "I understand their campus is incredible."

Barnett didn't hesitate when asked which school was recruiting him the hardest.

"That's easy, Colorado by far is sending me the most stuff through the mail," Barnett said. "I really like my recruiting Coach (Troy) Walters, he really is cool, I talk to him either by phone or the internet every other day or so."

Barnett also got the chance to talk to new head football coach Mike MacIntyre.

"He told me how important I am to their recruiting class," Barnett said. "He wants me to play cornerback at Colorado. He seems to be a very nice guy, he is very cool over the phone."
