One California defensive lineman wasn't sure what to expect when he took his official visit to Boulder this past weekend.

The week before Colorado got hit with sub zero type winter weather, for John Turner he found his trip to be better than he expected it to be.

"My trip went really well," Turner told BuffPlayBook.com. "Boulder is a very cool college town, yes it was better than I expected it to be."

The weather this past weekend was a pleasant surprise.

"It wasn't as cold as everybody makes it out to be," Turner said. "I love how the campus is so close to everything, it's a great college campus."

Turner is also impressed with the Buffs coaching staff.

"I like them a lot," Turner said. "They obviously turned things around at San Jose State. I think that they will do the same at Colorado, I really think they are one of the best coaching staffs in the country."

Turner, a 6-foot-3, 270-pound athlete, didn't commit to the Buffs on his visit and plans on taking an official visit to Cal and possibly Washington.

One other thing stood out to Turner.

"The academic side of things at Colorado is very impressive," Turner said. "That's very interesting to me, I would get a quality education there."

Turner also likes the family atmosphere surrounding the Buffs Football program.

"I was surprised on how close the team is with each other and with their coaches," Turner said. "I love how everything is family oriented."
