One Texas High School wide receiver hit offer No. 21 today.
Aledo High School wide out Ryan Newsome picked up an offer Wednesday from a couple of coaches that he is very familiar with.
Colorado wide receiver coach Troy Walters played for Newsome's High School coach Tim Buchanan at AM Consolidated High School. Newsome has also built a solid relationship with former Dallas Cowboy and CU D-line Coach Jim Jeffcoat.
"It was great to pick up an offer from Colorado today," Newsome told BuffPlayBook.com. "Coach Walters knows the wide receiver position very well, he was the best during his college days. I have also know Coach Jeffcoat for a long time and we have built a solid relationship with each other."
While Newsome may not be the tallest wide receiver in the Lone Star State, the four star Scout.com pass catcher is perhaps one of the fastest.
"I have been time at 4.38 in the forty," Newsome said. "I'm currently 5-foot-9 and 173-pounds."
Newsome feels like he's got elite speed and quickness at the wide receiver position. He also says that his strength will surprise some people given his size.
"I feel like my quickness and my speed are my biggest strengths. I am not a big guy, but I think that my quickness gives me an advantage. I am also stronger than some might think. And I have long arms for a player my size. I don't drop the ball either. I never do that."
Newsome was quick to respond when asked about receiving 21 offers.
"No I never thought I would have that many," a humble Newsome responded. "It's a blessing at the same time."
According to Newsome he hopes to get to experience the Boulder Colorado experience for himself in the near future.
"I'm going to try to get up there this summer," Newsome said. "I hear it's very beautiful there. My high school coach thinks the world of Coach Walters, it's pretty cool they he played for my coach." ?
