Sometimes the best way to resurrect a football program is to go back to what worked in the past. And that's exactly what Gary Barnett and the Colorado coaching staff decided to do when they announced their team captains for the 2001 season.
For the first time since 1989, the Colorado Buffaloes will have four captains.
- Defensive tackle Justin Bannan
- Strong safety Michael Lewis
- Offensive guard Andre Gurode
- Wide Receiver John Minardi
All the team captains are seniors and besides Minardi, they are all fifth-year players. All four should bring some much needed experience and leadership to the Buffs.
In 1989, the four captains helped CU finish 11-0 in the regular season and earned a trip to Miami for the Orange Bowl.
