Buffs Kicking Situation Unsettled

Colorado Buffalo fans do not need me to re-cap how bad their kicking game has been the last few seasons. One way to put it is that it sucked. It also was a major contributor to several losses. <P>But I digress....

Let's focus on the kicking game 2001.

After suffering from a back injury throughout the spring and part of the fall, Jr. Mark Mariscal is back and has basically wrapped up the punters job. Coach Barnett said early on that if Mariscal were physically able to kick, he would be the team's punter. After Wednesdays practice, Mariscal said his back feels fine.

Now the placekicking situation is a different story.

"It may come down to me picking a number out of a hat," joked Coach Barnett.

Neither Sr. Jeremy Flores or Jr newcomer Pat Brougham have performed well enough to become the teams kicker. During last Saturday's scrimmage, the two went a combined 1-5 on field goal attempts.
