Fa'avae Fa'avae plans to take multiple trips to Colorado in the coming months.
“I am planning an unofficial visit to Colorado at the end of this month or early next month and I have an official [visit] lined up with them for Oct. 1 when they play Oregon State,” the 6-foot-1, 215-pound Fa'avae informed BuffStampede.com. “I have a Washington State trip planned as well.”
Although Fa'avae has not named his official top five yet, he said Colorado will be in it when he does. Washington State, Boise State and Louisville are also recruiting him hard, and he also has offers from Arizona State, Colorado State and San Diego State, among others.
Defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Jim Leavitt is responsible for Fa'avae's recruitment from the Buffaloes' staff.
"I really love it. My history teacher actually went to Colorado and he said Boulder is a great place,” he said. “They built new facilities so everything is brand new. I want to go to the NFL and I know Coach Leavitt could put me on a path to get to the next level. He coached a lot of great NFL linebackers, like Patrick Willis and Navorro Bowman, and he said I remind him of them. He thinks we could do special things together in Boulder."
Fa'avae led his league with 13 sacks while helping Mater Dei to 10 wins in 2015. The Monarchs will begin the 2016 season ranked No. 1 in California and No. 6 nationally.
"All these colleges are saying they love my instincts, the way I play," Fa'avae said. "I give it my all for all 60 minutes. I am not one of those players that goes hard one play then takes the next play off. I am going to hit you in the mouth from start to finish."
