D'shawn Schwartz’ recruitment appears to be getting closer to an end.
The 6-foot-6, 220-pound small forward from Colorado Springs (Colo.) Sand Creek, ranked 78th in the 2017 class by Scout, is essentially looking at three schools.
Schwartz, who says he’s set up an official visit for Butler on Sept. 2 and Colorado on Sept. 9, says that one school stands out for him.
“Colorado has always been leading,” Schwartz said. “I like the relationship I’ve built with them over the years. They’ve been there the longest.
“I’ve talked to every single coach. They’ve all seen my play and are open and welcome and excited to recruit me.”
Colorado being close to home only helps the Buffs’ chances.
“It does,” Schwartz said. “It’s important to be able to have my parents watch me play.”
While Schwartz is leaning in Colorado’s direction, he says he’s looking forward to his visit to Butler.
“I really like the staff at Butler,” he said. “They watched me all spring and summer. I have a really good relationship with (Mike) Schrage. They have high academics.”
The four-star prospect says he’ll probably make a decision following his September visits.
“I haven’t seen any other schools yet so it’s hard to make a decision if you haven’t seen anything else,” he said.
