Pac-12 Trio Plus Louisville Vists on Tap LB Faavae Faavae

Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei has a loaded roster this coming season and linebacker Faavae Faavae will play a key role for the Monarch defense.

Faavae Faavae is a high motor outside 'backer and one of the top defensive prospects out West.

He's one of the elite pass rushers in the West and plays with a relentless motor. He shows very good closing speed, can get around the edge and plays like his hair is on fire.

He has a nice edge to him and is a very physical player who just keeps coming. He's able to line up in multiple spots and get after the quarterback but can also play the run very effectively. Faavae is a fluid, quick twitch athlete who can change direction and stop and start on a dime.

On the recruiting front, Faavae has yet to set up any of his official visits but has a good idea where he will take them.

"I'm going to visit the Washington State Cougars and Colorado Buffaloes for sure," Faavae said. "I took an unofficial visit to Arizona State but I'll be back there for an official and I want to visit Louisville as well.

"Those are probably the four schools on me the hardest right now. I was at ASU for Junior Day and loved it there. That was my only visit so far so I'm excited to take all my trips and see what all these schools have to offer."

Faavae camped with USC and also attended Michigan's Satellite Camp.

"I was MVP at the Michigan Camp and they're recruiting me," Faavae said. "They said they liked me a lot and want to watch my senior film. USC said the same thing, I did well at their camp and they want to watch my first few games this season before possibly offering.

"Nebraska and Mississippi are two more schools that are recruiting me pretty hard so we'll see what happens. Right now, I'm still open to everyone. I don't have any leaders or even a top five list. I want to play the process out, take all my visits and then decide where I fit in the best."
