The 6-foot-6, 180-pound standout from Colorado Springs (Colo.) Sand Creek is Scout’s 81st ranked prospect in the 2017 class.
What kind of player is Colorado getting in Schwartz?
At about 6-foot-6 with a +2.5 wingspan, Schwartz is a small forward with good size and decent length who has really emerged as a prospect over the last year and a half.
Schwartz didn’t show a whole lot playing AAU at the 16u level between his sophomore and junior year but was invited to the USA Basketball Junior National Team Minicamp that fall and was a new player, quickly looking the part of a high major small forward.
He has a decent and quickly improving skill level for the position. The lefty is streaky from three but can more regularly hit pull-up midrange jumpers, has floaters with both hands, and finishes with both hands around the basket.
Schwartz sees the court very well and can really pass it for the position. He rebounds very well for a small forward and secures the glass on both ends. He has just an okay handle but changes speeds well.
He gets good lift and can finish above the rim and how his athleticism changes as he matures will be something to watch.
Regardless, Schwartz projects as a very good Pac-12 player and was a terrific pickup for the CU program.
