K.J. Jarrell is a versatile safety who does everything well. He has a prototype safety frame, about 6-2, 190 pounds with the frame to add another 15 pounds for so with ease. He's a physical player in run support, shows a lot range in the secondary and can cover a lot of ground in pass defense.
He's a plus athlete who has made a lot of plays on the offensive side of the ball but we like his upside highest in the secondary. Jarrell plays for one of the top programs in the region and you can tell he has been well coached and plays with a high understanding of how to play the game.
He's an instinctual player who does a nice job breaking down and making plays in space and his combination of size, athleticism and physicality should allow him to see the field early in his college career.
Jarrell has been to Colorado and USC unofficially this fall and is also talking with Arizona State, Cal and Nebraska. He has yet to set up any of his official visits and will wait to do so until after the season. With several teammates already committed to ASU and the proximity to home being a factor as well, we think the Sun Devils are in a good spot but the Trojans can't be ruled out here either.
