Colorado Lands Three-Star DE Jacob Callier

The fourth ranked defensive end prospect in California from the Class of 2017 is commitment No. 21 for the Colorado Buffaloes...

Colorado picked up a commitment from one of the top defensive lineman out West minutes ago when Jacob Callier announced for the Buffs.

"Colorado is the perfect fit for me," Callier said. "In terms of the football program, what they're building and how well I get along with the coaching staff, it's a great all around fit for me. Coach Hagan was my primary recruiter but I also talked to Coach MacIntyre as well. I talked to them both tonight when I committed and they were very excited for me.

"I like the defense at CU and how I fit in there. They want me as a pass rushing defensive end  and that's what I enjoy doing. I've been thinking about doing this for awhile and the timing just felt right to me. I really believe this is the best decision for me."

Callier has yet to visit Boulder but said that didn't bother him.

"I'm going to be taking my official visit out there in December," Callier said. "I talked to a lot of people who have been out there and everyone one said it's a beautiful place and that I would love it. I can't wait to get out there and see up close for myself and experience everything the school has to offer."

Callier has easily been among the top defensive ends we've seen out West this year. He's an incredibly strong kid who can play the run and has the speed and athleticism to run down plays from behind or run away from him. He can really get after the quarterback as well and plays with a relentless passion that is contagious for the rest of his teammates.

At a rock solid 6-2, 250 pounds, Callier has the size and versatility to move all over the defensive line and can play inside or outside depending on the matchup. We think he can fit in any type of defensive scheme and his toughness and non-stop motor will make him an early fan favorite.
