State Quarterfinal Footage of Colorado Commit Xavier Newman

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Scout and BuffStampede.com feature state quarterfinal game footage of Colorado commit Xavier Newman, currently ranked No. 2 among centers in the Lone Star State.

The above video features game footage of Colorado commit Xavier Newman in DeSoto High's 55-41 Texas Class 6A Division II state quarterfinal win this past weekend against rival Cedar Hill at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

The 6-foot-3, 272-pound Newman starts at left tackle for DeSoto, which features about 20 players with FBS offers, including three Colorado commits in Newman and four-stars KD Nixon and Laviska Shenault Jr.. Newman's high school playing experience has largely come at tackle, but he projects best to the interior in college and could be a high-potential center prospect.

Newman, Scout's No. 2 center in Texas and the No. 6 center nationally for the 2017 recruiting cycle, spearheads a DeSoto offensive line that also features four-star guard and LSU commit Edward Ingram, plus three-star tackle and Missouri pledge Hyrin White. That trio led a DeSoto offensive front that helped the Eagles run for 229 yards and 5.3 yards per carry in the 14-point state quarterfinal win against Cedar Hill.

DeSoto's offense gained 558 yards, with TCU-bound four-star quarterback Shawn Robinson accounting for more than 400 yards and six touchdowns.

Newman's DeSoto squad is 14-0 entering Saturday's Texas Class 6A Division II state semifinal against Klein Collins at NRG Stadium in Houston.
