The above video features game highlights of 2017 four-star receiver Laviska Shenault Jr.
DeSoto and Cedar Hill are arguably the most talent-laden programs in the state of Texas when it comes to producing college players, but even when surrounded with FBS and P5 prospect, Colorado commit Laviska Shenault Jr. came up huge this past weekend.
The four-star Shenault Jr. led DeSoto in receiving as the Eagles claimed a 55-41 victory against rival Cedar Hill in a Texas Class 6A Division II state quarterfinal at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
The win propels DeSoto to the 6A D-II state semifinals this Saturday at Houston's NRG Stadium against Klein Collins.
A Colorado commit since late April and 1 of 3 players for DeSoto pledged to the Buffs, Shenault Jr. hauled in seven passes for 183 yards and a touchdown, and also had another touchdown wiped out by a block in the back (which you can see in the above video).
Shenault Jr. was the top receiver for TCU-bound top 100 prospect Shawn Robinson, who threw for 329 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 106 yards and three more scores. The duo went head-to-head with Cedar Hill four-star tandem Avery Davis (Notre Dame QB commit) and Charleston Rambo (Oklahoma receiver commit), who connected 12 times for 284 yards and three scores.
Shenault Jr.'s big game gives the No. 276 overall prospect in the 2017 Scout 300 a total of 38 catches for 696 yards and eight touchdowns on 18.3 yards per catch entering the state semifinal matchup with Klein Collins.
