BuffStampede.com has confirmed a report by ESPN's Jerry Hamilton that K'Lavon Chaisson plans to take an official visit to Colorado in January. The blue-chip prospect is expected to arrive in Boulder for an unconventional early week trip on Monday, January 23.
Chaisson has yet to take any of his official visits, and he wants to take all five trips before deciding, so he is also set to take a mid-week visit to Oregon on Jan. 17. He is expected to take weekend trips to LSU on Jan. 13, Texas on Jan. 20 and USC on Jan. 27.
Chaisson has kept his recruitment very quiet, electing not to do many interviews about the process. So until he announced his official visit schedule on Tuesday, it was largely unknown which colleges he had high interest in.
Currently ranked by Scout as the nation's No. 51 prospect, regardless of position, Chaisson will play in the Under Armour All-America Game in Orlando on Jan. 1. Colorado commits Xavier Newman, Grant Polley and Jon Van Diest have also been invited to the prestigious high school all-star game, although Van Diest will not be able to play in the game due to an arm injury he suffered late during his senior campaign.
SCOUT EVALUATION OF CHAISSON:
"Chaisson has what we like to describe as a very high motor and is a player who can get after the quarterback early and and then he will do it often. We like that he stepped up on the big stage to help his team win a state title, earning defensive MVP honors in the contest and making a play inside the 10-yard line to secure the win. Big players make big plays on the big stages. He has great speed rush abilities and instincts, but is also strong enough to hold his ground and play tough against the run. A well-rounded prospect, who has room to grow and mature into a top-tier physical specimen". - Greg Powers
