Four-Star Safety Stephan Blaylock Talks UCLA Visit, Planning Two Spring Stops to Colorado and Oregon

LAS VEGAS -- caught up with four-star prospect Stephan Blaylock, one of the top safeties in the West region, at the adidas 7v7 National Championship to discuss his recent visit to UCLA and upcoming trips...

Stephan Blaylock has versatility to play at various spots in the secondary but has proven to be an effective safety with very good instincts and seems to always find himself near the football.

The four-star prospect from Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco holds half a dozen scholarship offers early on and recently took another visit to nearby UCLA to meet with defensive backs coach Demetrice Martin.

"UCLA raised the bar higher, for sure," Blaylock told at the adidas 7v7 National Championship. "They had a bad season, but with coach Meat talking to me and showing me around, to me it felt like home and I feel like I could make it better."

The stop by the local school was just the beginning of what is shaping up to be a busy spring for Blaylock, who also plans to check out Colorado and Oregon in the coming months.

"With Oregon, everything stands out right now and I talk to coach (Keith) Heyward a lot," Blaylock said. "The communication is strong and he's just like coach Meat with that he tells me about the future and who he's planning to have up there with me. He's told me to be me and keep balling.

"At Colorado, I want to see how they keep building. The years before they were bad but they just had a great season, so I want to see how they keep building. They've got a good group at defensive back and that definitely creates competition."

From a decision standpoint, Blaylock said he intends to follow the norm at St. John Bosco by announcing a commitment before the start of his senior season.

"For me, I'm thinking summer," Blaylock said. "I don't plan on committing more than once. When I pick that's going to be my primary school."
