Matteo Mele is making the full-time switch from tight end to offensive line, yet college recruiters have seen enough potential in him as a blocker that he already holds several scholarship offers heading into the ever-important spring evaluation period.

The athletic offensive tackle from Tucson (Ariz.) Salpointe Catholic has 10 programs on his growing list of offers, including seven from the Pac-12, and he made a visit to one of his latest suitors, the UCLA Bruins, this past weekend.

"UCLA is definitely one of my top choices right now, for sure," Mele told Scout.com following his trip to Los Angeles. "I'm not really cutting down any schools right now but, of the offers I have, UCLA is definitely close to the top.

"It was an awesome visit. The campus, of course, is really beautiful and the new facility they're building is going to be crazy when it's finished. It was my first out-of-state visit, so it was a big step for me in the whole process. They're putting a lot of money into this new facility and, for recruiting, that should be huge. For the team, it's going to be a new stage and how they're rebuilding the whole system."

Three other programs are standing out as well and Mele intends to get out to each in the coming months.

"Arizona State is pushing really hard and I like that," Mele said. "My other two schools that I like a lot right now are Louisville and Colorado. With ASU, they've got a whole new offensive coaching group, so I think it's going to be a big boost. They're also putting in a new facility so they're re-establishing the program and turning it around. I'm excited to see what they do on the field. I haven't been out there recently but I'll probably head out there soon for one weekend and take in a practice and talk to some of the coaches.

"I'm going to go out to Colorado on April 15 to see how it's going out there. I talk to coach (Gary) Bernardi and he's a really cool guy. He was actually the first coach that I ever talked to and he came out to Tucson to check us out when I was going into my junior year. That's a major reason why Colorado is up there for me, but they also did very well last year and I like their program. With Louisville I haven't planned anything but I definitely want to try to get out there at some point."

Mele does not have a timeframe for a decision but said he would like to scour through all of his options and then start focusing on a select few before taking some official visits during the season.

"I've definitely been thinking of narrowing it down before the season, but I'm not exactly sure when I'm going to commit," Mele said. "Just when the time is right and when I feel comfortable, that's when I'm going to commit."
