Buffs in the Mix for City College of San Francisco Guard

With some attrition expected, the Buffaloes' men's basketball program is looking for reinforcements for the 2017-18 season...

Zach Copeland is a 6-4 shooting guard that was named the 2017 California JUCO Player of the Year after averaging 18.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists as a sophomore at City College of San Francisco.

An Oakland native, Copeland was part of Berkeley High's 2015 state championship team but he did not come into his own until last summer when he participated in the Top 100 JUCO Players Camp in Kansas City. An efficient player, he shot 49.1 percent from the field, 47.7 percent from three-point range and 86.2 percent from the free-throw line as a sophomore.

In addition to Colorado, Copeland plans to take an official visit to Illinois State in early April. Hawaii, Washington State and New Mexico are among the other schools recruiting him.

In an interview with Vidette Online, a news source covering Illinois State University, Copeland indicated that he would like to make a decision by the end of April.
