Tedric Thompson and Jordan Carrell Selected on Final Day of NFL Draft

On Saturday, Tedric Thompson and Jordan Carrell became the third and fourth Colorado players selected in the 2017 NFL Draft...

When the Seattle Seahawks selected safety Tedric Thompson with the fourth pick in the fourth round on Saturday, it marked the fourth time three Colorado defensive backs were drafted in the same year. And later, in a somewhat surprisingly development, defensive lineman Jordan Carrell was selected by the Dallas Cowboys.

A couple moments that remind us all why we love sports...

Thompson becomes the seventh Buff to be drafted by Seattle, the last being wide receiver Paul Richardson, who is still with the Seahawks.

"It just feels like a blessing to see my older brother (Cedric Thompson) get drafted a couple years ago and to see two of my best friends (cornerbacks Chidobe Awuzie and Ahkello Witherspoon) get drafted yesterday, so it is just a blessing to God to be able to be able to play football again," Thompson said in a released statement.

"It's a blessing to go to a great organization; Pete Carrol of course was a great head coach when I was growing up in Los Angeles, California, to see him at USC, so it's a great feeling," he added. "I'm just trying to go in and where ever I am needed or where ever they want to put me, I'm going to try to the best of my ability to make sure that they are happy with what they got."

A starter in 38 games during his time with the Buffaloes, Thompson led the Pac-12 in interceptions in 2016 and tied the CU mark for most picks in a single-season with seven.

"Tedric is a young man who overcame a lot to be where he is today," CU head coach Mike MacIntyre said. "Even while he was at CU, his work ethic and his tenacity to keep going is what has made him special. It's a great pick by the Seattle Seahawks because he fits their system perfectly, that middle-roaming safety."

Carrell was selected with the 246th pick overall, in the seventh round, joining him with Chidobe Awuzie on the Cowboys' 2017 draft class. A Junior College All-American at American River College before transferring to Colorado, Carrell started 25 games and recorded a total of 98 tackles during his two seasons in Boulder.
