Marcel Brooks, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound safety / outside linebacker will be playing his junior season at Flower Mound (Texas) Marcus after playing his sophomore season at Fort Worth (Texas) Nolan Catholic.

It did not take long for colleges to track him down at his new school and just this week he picked up his very first scholarship offer from Baylor

"I feel like it is just a process, Brooks said. "I wasn't really worried about it, I just felt like if I did what I needed to do in the classroom and just keeping working hard at what I am doing, working hard on my craft, that it would just come to me."

Brooks went on to recap what the offer from Baylor meant to him, and how he initially got on the radar.

"I went up there for a visit and I spoke to all of the coaches," Brooks explained.

"It was a blessing, it was just a dream school as a little kid," Brooks said.  I feel like I worked hard for it. I was just very, very excited that they was able to give me my first offer. I thought it was a blessing.

It did not take long before Brooks added his second P5 offer, this time from Colorado in the Pac-12 Conference.

"It really came out of nowhere," Brooks said.

"I don't really know too much about Colorado, but I do know that it is a good school and that they have a good campus and it is something that I look forward to visiting and maybe going to a camp."

Brooks is also hearing from schools such as Oregon, Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, and TCU.

"I am hoping OU," Brooks answered when asked who might offer next. "Texas A&M might pull the trigger."

Brooks feels like it his versatility, strength, and tenacity that set him apart as a prospect.

"I feel like I am bringing toughness to the table, just being an athlete on defense," Brooks said of his strengths. "I don't just play one position, I can play different positions on the defense, so if one position does not work out I could play another. I could play outside linebacker and safety. I am going to be the biggest hitter out on the field, regardless."
