Colorado in Top Four for Bayou Receiver

Joseph is a popular name around Boulder these days with starting cornerback Sammy Joseph and defensive backs coach Vance Joseph being prominent figures in the CU program. Both are from Louisiana and one of the top players in the Bayou State this year is Reggie Joseph. Many Buff fans were wondering if there was any relation? Well here's the answer.

"I am not sure if we are related, not that I know of," said Reggie. "I am aware of them though."

And Colorado is definitely aware of him. How could they not be? As a junior on offense Reggie had 52 receptions for 932 yards. As a kickoff returner he had 185 yards and also had 62 punt return yards. On defense he had 16 tackles, three fumble recoveries, eight passes broken up, and ten interceptions. Reggie is not sure where his future is regarding a position.

"I was an all-state defensive back as a sophomore at St. Thomas Aquinas before transfering to East St. John. So everybody was recruiting me as a DB, but now after last year many of them like me as a receiver. I kind of prefer wide receiver but I may be better as a safety."

Joseph already has around 300 yards receiving on the year and a 35 yard average on kickoff returns. He has helped his team to a 2-0 start.

As for recruiting two teams stand out right now.

"Florida State and LSU are my favorites. I would also like to visit Auburn and Colorado. Those are really my top four."

Reggie claims verbal offers from the likes of Auburn, Tulane, LSU, Florida State, Colorado, and Michigan State. He has no written offers that he is aware of, but expect that to change. Some think he is the best pure receiver prospect in the state this year. Since the beginning of the month he has fielded calls from Tulane, LSU, FSU, Auburn, Tennessee, Louisiana Tech, and Michigan State.

As for why Colorado is in his top four, Reggie has heard great things.

"I hear the environment up there is great. I also trained with one of the strength and conditioning coaches from the New England Patriots over the summer, Tom Shaw. He told me that Colorado is one of his favorite places to go and that I would really like it there. It is a nice place to go site seeing."

Both of Reggie's parents are LSU alums. He carries a 2.85 core GPA and scored a 16 on his first ACT attempt. You can bet that as soon as he has a passing test grade the offers will start rolling in. He would like to major in Math or Communications.
