"I spent all weekend with Coach Cabral and he told me that if I could come in next summer real early that he would guarantee me a chance to play. All of the coaches told me that they are lacking speed on defense and I have what they need in that area."
Maurice was hosted by current linebacker Chris Hollis and hit it off well with him. He had a full schedule while in town.
"I liked it. I had a real good trip. The first day I was there we just went on a bunch of tours and met with academic advisors. Then we went to the game on Saturday. The coaches were just telling me a lot of good stuff about the program and said that they are looking to take a lot of defensive recruits in this class to balance out their defensive players with their offensive players. They told me that they have one linebacker and they want to take two more."
Colorado and Iowa State are Cantrell's two current offers and the Buffs are now the leader.
Maurice will visit Iowa State in December and Purdue also wants him to visit. He is not sure when he will commit.
"I might try to squeeze in some visits earlier so I can commit by December. I will probably take at least two more visits."
On the year Maurice has two interceptions and three sacks. He was not sure how many tackles he has for 6-0 Washington. His team takes on Dubuque next.
Cantrell carries a 2.5 core GPA and has already scored a 21 on his ACT.
