World Ranked 18-Year-Old Tees up with CU

The CU men's golf team was also the recipient of good signing day news on Wednesday, as ThunderRidge high school standout <b>Derek Tolan</b> signed a letter of intent with the Buffs. A look at what Tolan is bringing to the table at CU.

Tolan gained more national notoriety this past season as he became the first and only golfer in the history of the United States Golf Association to have participated in the U.S. Open, the U.S. Public Links Championship, the U.S. Junior Amateur and the U.S. Amateur in the same year.

Nolan, ranked 33rd in the world, made sports headlines around the world in June 2002 when he played in the U.S. Open at Beth Page on Long Island, N.Y.

"Derek is by far the most experienced player I have ever recruited in my time here," said CU head coach Mark Simpson in October when Tolan officially announced his intentions to join the Colorado roster.
