Cantrell is not from Iowa though, so he never had any real loyalties to the state. He moved to Cedar Rapids from Virginia his sophomore year.

Now he will move a little further away from the east coast with his commitment to CU.

"Last night I just decided that I do not want to think about my decison anymore. So I talked with my Grandma, my Aunt, my Uncle, and my Parents and chose to go to Colorado. So I called coach Cabral and he said it would be a privilege to coach me. He was real happy about my decision. He thinks I am a good player with a lot of potential. I thought about ISU a lot but really just wanted to branch out and go to Colorado."

Maurice says that his decision mainly came down to which coaching staff he felt the most comfortable playing for. Noting that he is looking forward to playing for Coach Cabral and Barnett.

Cantrell received his in-home visit with Coach Cabral right after he returned from Iowa State over the weekend. He says Coach Barnett is set to come in next week.

In addition to being named first team all-state this year, Cantrell received all-metro and all-conference first team honors for the second year in a row.

He did have visits set with Purdue and Iowa but will cancel those now.

Cantrell carries a 2.6 core GPA and scored a 21 on his ACT. He will major in Pre-Med at CU.
