Darryl Richard is a player that Colorado was not believed to be in on until recently. After cancelling a trip to Boulder in December, it was thought that he was basically crossing the Buffs off his list at that time. Well now CU is back and may have as good a shot as any at landing him. We find out how his Army All-American game experience was and also figure out what is putting CU so high on his list."> Darryl Richard is a player that Colorado was not believed to be in on until recently. "Really, I just like the way they play there," Richard said of CU.

Darryl went on to say that of the schools he is looking at; Miami, Colorado, Georgia Tech, LSU, and Notre Dame - he thinks he could play the earliest at Georgia Tech.

"I think that I would have a two year wait to get in the rotation at Miami or LSU. Not just a couple plays either. Like being a player that started or got a lot of playing time."

Darryl was one of a few Louisiana defensive lineman chosen to represent the west squad at the Army All-American game over the weekend. He had three tackles and three quarterback pressures in the game. He mentioned some of the players he was impressed with.

"I was very impressed with Jeff Byers. He is probably the fastest lineman I have ever seen. I could not believe how fast he moved. Jeff Schweiger was also lightning fast. Herman Johnson was another guy that stood out to me."

As for himself, Richard says he is being recruited as a defensive tackle or a d-end, but mainly on the inside. He would not mind playing either position. He says LSU is after him the hardest right now.

He has already taken trips to Notre Dame and Georgia Tech. He has Colorado this weekend, Miami on the 16th, and CU on the 23rd. Darryl claims no leader at this time.

"I am not favoring anyone. I want to get these visits in first, and then I will think about it."

He received an in-home visit in December from Coach Joseph and Wilson of CU. The only head coach to go by his house has been Tyrone Willingham.

We will catch up with Darryl after his visit to Boulder this weekend.
